Indiana’s voter registration deadline is next Tuesday, October 11, and every Hoosier who is in favor of passing statewide LGBT-inclusive non-discrimination protections must get registered now.
And if you’re already registered and you live in Indianapolis, join us on October 15, when LGBT Hoosiers and allies will be meeting at the City County Building to early vote.
While there may not be a direct ballot initiative on LGBT civil rights in our state this year, make no mistake: When Hoosiers enter the voting booth a month from now, they will be deciding if and when we secure LGBT non-discrimination protections in Indiana.
That’s because there’s only one path in Indiana to ensuring that all Hoosiers are protected from discrimination: the Legislature. Half of Indiana’s state senators and all of our state representatives are up for re-election this year, and electing and re-electing legislators who support LGBT-inclusive non-discrimination legislation is critical.
If our movement has proven anything in the last few years, it’s that we’re a force to be reckoned with. From defeating the marriage amendment to raising the national alarm on RFRA, when fair-minded Hoosiers stand together, our impact is undeniable.
Now, it’s on us to take this power to the polls—where this year, there’s more at stake than ever. If we’re going to keep our state moving forward, there’s no way we can afford to sit this one out.
Early voting starts October 12. Election Day is November 8. Make your voice heard!
