This Monday the Tippecanoe County Board of Commissioners will hold a final vote that would add transgender protections to the entire county’s human relations ordinance. The three Republican commissioners voted unanimously to advance the amendment on its first reading last week, so we think it has an excellent chance of passing.
However, opposition to the ordinance is expected to be out in full force, so we need everyone who supports updating the ordinance to be out in full force too.
Your support for local non-discrimination protections is more critical than ever. We need everyone who raised their voice in Lafayette to come out again because we know from our victory last week that when we stand together and urge our elected officials to do the right thing, they listen!
By the beginning of next week, Tippecanoe County may join Lafayette—places that one week ago, had no protections for transgender people—as the latest municipalities in Indiana with comprehensive gender identity protections. That’s the power of the movement we’re building.SHARE THIS STORY
